Spam fritters that is?

I've had occasionally spam comments on the blog (though no where near as many as many as I've had spammer invites on Twitter) but the last few days have seen something of an explosion. As a consquence, I've placed some restrictions on the commenting function so as to make it easier to weed out the spam.
