News from Azeroth

Not too much news on the raiding front - the usual guild outings to OS10, VOA10 and Naxx - with steady progress in the latter. The current work, after our exploits in the Arachnid and Construct quarters, is learning Heigan's Safety Dance ... what fun :)

There've been some other developments recently, starting with completing my fifth Champion at the Argent Tournament and receiving the Crusader title, then retro outings to Molten Core and Blackwing Lair. Having seen what they were like, I think I can start to appreciate how tough they must've been at the correct level.

Returning to Northrend, I finally completed For the Alliance (I did 2 cities a month or so back
For the Alliance
and the final two - plus some I'd already done - this morning.) Cue the obligatory 'Singing Bears' in Dalaran :)

Bear Necessities
After than, there I tried to get my weekly 25-man in and joined an OS run (which took almost as long to deal with the loot as it did to kill all the mobs, not that there was anything for me) and then joined a VOA25 run starting with Emalon. These have usually been wipefests, but
Emalon the Raid Wiper
the DPS was looking pretty good, and after the obligatory 'pay attention' wipe (and bickering) we did manage to get the Raid Wiper down (and after than, Archavon was a piece of cake).

All in all a good morning's work!

I checked BWL out on Friday night with 6 mates...

I am so glad we never attempted that pre-80.

Sure most of it was easy, but it was still hard enough to be lots of fun (OK, maybe pulling entire rooms made it harder).

I was really impressed with the technicality of the encounters... not much tank and spank.

We didn't get the last boss down... but we sure as hell had fun trying.

We were a mixed bunch between 60 and 80 - about 25 in total - so it wasn't too much of a challenge. The biggest problems were the speed with which the 60s died, and the fact that herding cats would be easier than 25 over-caffeinated Puggies. I think it took 3 goes on the end boss - the first failure because someone ran in and started the event while half the raid weren't in the room, the second time because people didn't want to do anything as mudane as tactics. The third time was (I think) the charm! Of course, there was a 15 minute respawn timer on the boss, so it took almost as long to do that 1 encounter as it did the rest of the instance.

The 15 minute respawn was the decider for us... we would have made 4-5 more attempts, but it was getting late, and we were getting bored.
