Naxxarama

Last night was the Ravens' first trip to Naxxramas as a guild ... with mixed results. It certainly got off to a better start than our Kara exploits (where we wiped on the first pull) but was hard going.

We'd decided to take on the Arachnid quarter and proceeded to clear to Anub'Rekhan .. where we played a little game called "lets wipe a lot" for a while. We made fout attempts without reading the strats then after a little perusal of Wowwiki and a swappage of personnel due to real-world issues, tried again several more times. To be fair, we had him on the 8th attempt really but he bugged through teh door and the encounter reset, prompting a ninth (successful) try ... and a lot of relieved Ravens. Our mix of ranged and melee DPS didn't help I don't think, but I'm glad we pulled it off and got some nice loot.

The death of Anub'RekhanNext up was Grand Widow Faerlina who we again decuided to "take cold" and to be fair, brutalized to within an inch of her life. Sadly, we didn;t kill her (and she did kill us) but the second attempt (after a persula of the strats) ran like clockwork.

Grand Widow FaerlinaThat left Maexxna, a big, bad spider, who caused us inumerous wipes before we decided to call it quits. I'm pretty sure we can do her, but we need to know the fight positioning better.

A suggestion on Maexxna: Put whoever's going to be cutting through the webbing holding people to the walls as far back toward the walls as they can be and still do damage, and don't have hunters send their pets over to help. It's a long run, and arrows/bullets/spells will likely have the job done anyway, and only pulls the pets out of useful melee.

Another suggestion on Maexxna: Have all your ranged DPS and Healers stand on the grey "tomb" at the bottom of the pit. (As suggested by Bruce, keep one range in the middle to quickly destroy the webbed people on the walls.

Your tank can tank her where she is, facing the wall. An off-tank is good to catch all the little adds that come and bring them close to her, so the AoE DPS can hit both her and the adds.

You will want to throttle your DPS before she gets to 30%. At 30% she will "enrage" and you don't want to have your team stuck in the web while the tank gets pounded. Big heals after 30%.

Hope this helps and congratulations on your first visit!
