So patch 3.02 hit today and already some people on the EU forums are whinging that they can't trade in their Achievement Points for Phat lootz. Get a grip people.
Achievement points aren't a currency like Honor Points or Badges. Yes, some achievements do give something extra (titles and some other goodies I won't spoil for those who haven't been reading the beta notes) but in general the Achievements and the score are just piece of fluff to measure how much you've done in the game, something for bragging rights (ala an X-Box live score).
