BRAIINNSS!! A commentary on the zombie invasion

So the pre WotLK has started with the rise of zombie hordes. Player zombie hordes. Its an interesting idea, putting players on both sides of the event (as, if you're a zombie, you're attackable by everyone).

However, there's also some divisiveness, with a number of those wanting to play zombies accusing those who kill/cure them of "spoiling the world event" for them, and a number of the curers stating their steadfastness in preventing the spread of the scourge (and you only have to recall how Arthas dealt with a similar situation in War 3 ... which'll be a COT instance in WotLK).

I can understand why the zombies are upset ... but I also see why the cleansers are doing what they do. Oliver Wendall Holmes said "The right to swing my fist ends where the other man's nose begins" but in this case both sides are swinging their fists - if you want to infect others, expect others to try and stop you. You shouldn't cry foul about people interfering with your fun if your goal is to interfere with theirs.

In other words chill out and enjoy things. As a "normal" I'll fight to defend myself and my city. As a zombie, I'll feast on brainnss!!

As an aside, while at present the balance of power stands with the cleansers, it's been implied that matters will escalate as November 13 approaches and I imagine that by the launch, the boot will be on the other foot, prompting the the assault on Northrend to stop the Scourge (just as the demonic invasions that preceded Burning Crusade took us to Outland).

Postcript: I reserve the right to whinge if this intereferes with other events (auctioneers/flightmasters/quest-givers being infected, for example) though I don't see why it shouldn't be fun too.
