RIP Gary Gygax

Those of you who read my LJ will already have seen this news (and pic) but the RPG community has lost one its founders, as reported on the BBC. I can't claim to have known him well but we did meet on occasion over my years playing RPGs, attending conventions and we spoke on industry mailing lists. I wasn't a particular fan of his fiction, but as one of the creators of D&D and the RPG phenomena I've been embroiled in for the last 25 years, he'll be missed; without him, it seems unlikely that most of the games I've played (or written for) would exist, up to and including World of Warcraft.
