Pet peeves

Okay, a kinda' sequel post to yesterday's rant: A list of pet-peeves from WOW as it stands at the moment.

1) Gold Spammers: The scourge of the cities and a good reason for avoiding the old world capitals (or trade channels), now joined by their kin the stat-changer marketbots. On one level they're totally dumb (still spamming about last years world cup for example) but on another they're quite sophisticated in what they do, picking their targets (and target market - there'll always be someone who wants to shortcut the system and buy their way to better kit etc). Blizzard are in a difficult position with these guys as they use trial accounts (so banning them has no impact) and circumvent the limitations on such accounts. The only way to deal with them would probably be to make the starting areas "walled gardens" (as is done in other MMOs like SWG and EQ2) isolating the trialists from the mainstream. I can't see blizz doing that though as isolating the new characters from the rest of the world would impact on their business model.
2) Spam inviters: Close kin of the gold spammers are those low-level characters who wander the starting and low-level areas and spam invites (which if accepted they use to broadcast their marketting spiel before dropping out of the group). Not too much of an issue if you ignore them (save the multiple requests) but annoying if you have one of those BTG mods that auto-accepts group invites.
3) BG leechers: Again, a bunch of people who can' be arsed to put in any effort and want a free ride to PVP-honor gear; a plague in AV, somethimes targetted for reporting by other players but all too often just ignored.
4) People chatting on Trade: if you want to chat with your mates, use MSN or AIM, not the trade channel ...
5) Kill/Node/Quest mob stealers: You know how it is, the mob you've been looking for for ages is just in front of you but something distracts you for a moment and, poof, some "nice fellow" drops from the sky and nabs it. I've had it happen with mining nodes (though just as common there is the clever so and so who sidles up and mines just as you clear the last mobs in the area), but recently its happened a lot with the prisoner quest mob up in Skettis. In fact, the other day I stopped short of clicking on him so I could team with another player, only for a third sneak to come along and steal the quest mob from both of us. Psia mentions a similar dislike over on Chain Trap.
6) Forum manners: Yes, an oxymoron as for the most part there aren't any on the official site with most "debates" develving into namecalling. As a result I pretty much never post there (though I do skim the US and Euro forums for information).

I could go on, but I'm depressing myself ... I'll have to do a "things I like" post tomorrow.
